New Conceptual Approaches to Modeling and Simulation of Complex Systems (completed)
Objective
This initiative was open from 2003 to 2011. It's focus lies on the theory of complex systems and the development of new methods and mathematical models which lead to a better understanding of complexity. Three topical calls addressed theoreticians from a variety of disciplines and allowed to pool their expertise and to combine complementary approaches. Many of these research projects are still ongoing. Additionally, 15 postdoctoral fellowships "Computational Sciences" were awarded. Further funding of this field will be limited to status symposia and selected project renewals.
