Equal opportunities funds

For calls with an application deadline after January 1, 2025, researchers who submit applications for project funding can at the same time apply for funds to improve equal opportunities. Such funds can be used for measures such as childcare, support for people with physical disabilities, awareness-raising workshops, or coaching.

The foundation supports equal opportunity and diversity in the research system and therefore now includes the possibility to apply for equal opportunity funds within the regular application process. Equal opportunity funds support measures that serve to compensate for disadvantages at an individual level and/or aim to strengthen diversity in the education and research system in general.

Application procedure

Equal opportunity funding can be applied for as a lump sum as part of a regular application process for calls for proposals with an application deadline after January 1, 2025; it is not possible to apply for funding retrospectively. Approved funds can be used flexibly and as needed for diverse measures over the duration of the project. Possible measures depend on the needs of the project. They can range from child care, technical aids for staff with physical disabilities, to the development of mentoring programmes.

Details can be found in the info sheet Equal Opportunities Funds (in German). To apply, please use the template Equal Opportunities Funds (DOCX, 70 KB) (in German).
