Dr. Georg Schütte is Secretary General and manages the Foundation's office.
Career

January 1, 2020: Following his election by the Board of Trustees, Dr. Georg Schütte took office as Secretary General of the Volkswagen Foundation.

2009 -2019: State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In this role, Dr. Schütte devoted particular attention to research funding, European research policy, and international scientific cooperation. From 2018 to 2019, he led the negotiations between the federal and state governments on funding the German science system.

1989-1994: For his doctorate, the media and communication scientist did research in the DFG collaborative research area "Screen Media" at the University of Siegen and as a visiting fellow at Harvard University (1992).

From 1984, studies in journalism at the Technical University of Dortmund and "Television and Radio" at the City University of New York. 1989 Master of Arts.
